Diverse voices, one clamor: from mothers to political leaders unite in one voice for the defense of the planeT
Musicians, indigenous people, mothers, models, actresses, singers, political leaders, activists, entrepreneurs and journalists stand out in a common front: promoting climate action to take care of the planet.
Promoting measures to protect the environment, the fight against climate change and climate justice are just some of the actions promoted by the members of the list of "The 100 Latinos Most Committed to Climate Action 2024", presented by the non-profit organization Sachamama in partnership with the EFE news agency.
In its sixth consecutive year, this list not only honors 67 women and 33 men, but also serves as a catalyst to inspire and motivate others to follow in their footsteps in the pursuit of a more sustainable future.
Sachamama and EFE also recognized 19 indigenous leaders from four Latin American countries such as Brazil, Ecuador, Honduras and Peru. Their impact, commitment to equity and innovation in the fight against climate change were evaluated.
The list of winners also includes a distinguished and outstanding group of artists, musicians, influencers, actors and actresses whose actions in favor of the environment earned recognition.
Figures such as Pope Francis, Carlos Vives and Eva Longoria demonstrate that the fight against climate change is a cause that transcends borders and unites people from different fields.
Ten judges with extensive experience in the fight against climate change participated in this edition, including Max Bello, Tais Gadea, Helena Gualinga and Carlos Correa. They analyzed the impact, innovation and ability to communicate the message about climate action about the candidates.
"Through the Los 100 Latinos 2024 platform, we continue to promote Latino leadership globally," said Carlos Zegarra, Executive Director of Sachamama. He assured us that this year progress will be made in different digital and face-to-face activations, to exert pressure for the effective implementation of the Paris Agreement and the fulfillment of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
The complete list of winners, released on October 24, the International Day of Climate Action, is published on the Sachamama website in its English and Spanish versions.
