Sol de Medianoche, Alaska’s bilingual newspaper, is looking for a part-time reporter to cover local municipal and school board meetings, as well as feature stories and hard news relevant to the Latino community.
Reporters are expected to submit a total of eight articles per month—this includes both news stories and evergreen features. Each article should typically be 350 to 500 words in length. Evergreen pieces are stories with lasting relevance, such as profiles, community milestones, or resources that remain useful over time. Ideal candidates will have at least one year of journalism experience (students are welcome to apply), a strong ability to seek out and report compelling stories, and reside in Anchorage. Spanish proficiency is preferred but not required. Applicants should be comfortable with entry-level to mid-level photography and have experience using social media to promote content and drive engagement. All topics will be assigned during bi-weekly meetings with the news editor, ensuring guidance and support throughout the reporting process.
