God Has Created Us Unique and Unrepeatable

This October marks the beginning of snowfall in Anchorage. Some of us love the return of snow, while others are somewhat saddened by the approaching winter. In my case, when it snows, I pay attention to the beauty and different shapes of the snow. You have probably heard, “No two snowflakes are alike.” And it’s very true, even though an estimated one septillion snowflakes fall from the sky each winter.

It’s such a large number that it’s hard to count: it’s like adding 24 zeros to 1. And if we add up all the winters, it’s an immensely huge number. Due to their small size and similar shape, it appears that snowflakes are identical. However, if we pay close attention, we will notice the differences. Scientists assure us that the probability of two large snowflakes being identical is zero. Impressive, right? If we marvel at such uniqueness and originality in the snow, how much more should we be amazed at how wonderful we human beings are! The Bible says that God created us in His image and likeness, and we are products of His love; therefore, our destiny is to live in love.

It’s important to always remember our worth. I know that in today’s culture, we are always busy and distracted by a thousand things, competing to be better, and living in a society that revolves around high expectations and the pursuit of wealth. With this pace of life, it’s normal to ask myself if I am enough or if I’m doing things right. It’s that feeling that something seems to be missing to feel satisfied with what I and others expect of me. Unfortunately, it appears that stress and anxiety are normal in our society, but that is not true.

My invitation, dear brothers and sisters, is to admire how majestically God has created us. Let’s slow down our daily lives, pause to reflect on ourselves, our purpose, and how I can surround myself with good people, healthy practices, and habits. God created us unique and unrepeatable. No one in the universe is the same as me, and my place on this earth is exclusive and authentic. Every moment that passes will never be repeated, and it’s not worth living bitterly. So, let’s live with love, patience, compassion, and forgiveness toward others and toward ourselves every moment God gives us.

So, when we see snow, let’s remember the magnificence and wonder of our existence. Let’s not be shy about saying nice and pleasant things to ourselves every day. Let’s wake up each morning with an attitude of gratitude and embrace the night with a heart full of appreciation for the good that has happened and with an attitude of forgiveness for the failures. Likewise, let’s see in each person the marvelous creation of God, so that we can admire, respect, and defend the dignity of our fellow human beings.
