“All people should have equal opportunities”

Picture

Les Gara boasts of running the most diverse ticket of any other candidate running in this election.
“Everyone deserves a fair and equal chance to succeed, regardless of race or income.”

What do you think you can offer to improve the Alaskan standard of living that the other candidates are not considering?
As someone who grew up in foster care, I believe everyone deserves a fair and equal chance to succeed, whether born rich or poor.

Workers deserve a living minimum wage of at least $15/hour. A full-time worker should not live in poverty, and the current minimum wage puts a single parent of a child in poverty.
People who want job training or college should have financial aid available to help pay if they don’t have the ability to pay themselves.

The Governor vetoed $4 million in childcare assistance, which I disagreed with. We should help people find childcare that they can afford, not make it harder.
We need to find ways to help more people afford childcare, and to help with affordable childcare so parents can afford work. We should have free universal Pre-Kindergarten to help children succeed. Free Universal Pre-K also helps free up parents so they can work.

Where do the BIPOC communities fit in your priorities?
I believe government, police personnel, and school educators should be as diverse as the communities they represent and work in. We are the only racially diverse ticket in this race, and we will hire a cabinet that is both as exceptional as possible, and that shows has ethnic and gender diversity.
All people should have equal opportunity, regardless of race or income.

Are you in favor or against an Alaskan Constitutional Convention? And if you are in favor, give your reasons.
I oppose a Constitutional Convention. I believe it might be used to damage educational opportunity, or to weaken the rights of Alaskans to benefit the large Outside special interests who will likely donate large amounts of money to the campaigns of the constitutional convention delegates.
