Two New Health Clinics Open in AnchorageThe Anchorage Health Department (AHD) is opening two new clinics in its Public Health Clinic. The Well-Baby Clinic will operate every Tuesday and the Lead Testing Clinic will operate on Wednesdays.
Well-baby visits are recommended for newborns starting at one-week postpartum through two years of age and are an important tool to ensure that babies are growing, developing, and receiving immunizations and routine screenings, such as for lead and anemia. The Lead Testing Clinic is available to all ages and includes a risk assessment evaluation. “The Well-Baby Clinic is intended to provide these important routine visits to families who don’t have a permanent healthcare provider,” said AHD Chief Medical Officer Michael Savit. “We will work with patients to connect them with a permanent healthcare provider, begin the Medicaid enrollment for those who qualify, and connect them with the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program at the health department that provides supplemental nutrition assistance.” Both clinics will be located on the first floor of AHD at 825 L Street. Well-Baby Clinic - Every Tuesday, 10am-3pm - Appointments required; Walk-ins will be scheduled for a future appointment. - There is a fee associated with these visits, but patients may qualify for financial assistance. Lead Testing Clinic - Every Wednesday, 9am-3pm - Appointments preferred. - Screenings are free; Treatments/services beyond screening may result in a fee. |
