BANK OF AMERICA JOINS LARGE U.S. BANKS THAT WON'T FINANCE OIL EXPLORATION IN THE ARCTIC
by carlos matÍAS
Bank of America will not provide credit for drilling in the Arctic for fossil fuels. It is the sixth large American bank that refuses to finance for this activity, after Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Chase, Wells Fargo and CitiBank. This means that no major American bank will finance the search for oil and gas in the area. The drilling that Donald Trump wants to push forward before leaving the White House would be a fatal blow to the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and a major threat to local wildlife and indigenous peoples like the Gwich'in Nation.
