June 6, 2020. ANCHORAGE

Mayor Ethan Berkowitz signed Emergency Order EO-11, which in conjunction with the State of Alaska’s Health Mandate 10.1, establishes updated requirements for interstate travelers. This order maintains necessary restrictions to protect public health, while providing more options for travelers.

The order establishes four options for interstate travelers arriving in Anchorage:

  1. Quarantine for 14-days. This remains the default option for travelers who cannot meet the testing requirements or the other options.
  2. Travelers who receive a negative PCR test result within 72 hours prior to arrival in Anchorage must minimize in-person interactions, but do not need to enter strict quarantine. These travelers may recreate outside, use curbside delivery and take-out, but may not dine in at restaurants, or visit indoor attractions like museums, theaters, and gyms that would involve heightened contact with other people. Restrictions on in-person interactions are lifted if the traveler receives a second negative test result from a PCR test administered at least 7 days after arrival in Anchorage.
  3. Individuals who get tested upon arrival in Anchorage must quarantine until they receive a negative test result, at which point they may engage in activities that minimize in-person interaction, as outlined in option B.
  4. Some critical workers are subject to specific employer plans that are approved by the State. In addition to complying with those plans, those critical workers must minimize in-person interactions outside of their workplace for 14 days after arriving in Anchorage.

All individuals arriving in Anchorage from out of state must inform their hotel, rental lodging host, and/or roommates of their quarantine status or whether they are required to minimize in-person interactions. Businesses may refuse to serve people who are in quarantine or minimal-interaction status. Any traveler who receives a positive COVID-19 test result must isolate at their own expense.

EO-11 goes into effect at 12:01 a.m. on June 6, 2020 and will remain in effect until modified.
