A MESSAGE FROM MAJOR BERKOWITZ
On Nov. 30, we were rocked by a 7.0 earthquake in the Municipality of Anchorage. I want to thank the people of our city for responding so strongly. From the crews who did all the repairs, to the first responders and emergency personnel, to the residents of Anchorage, we should be proud of who we are and how well we served one another when we needed our neighbors’ support. Oftentimes, incidents like these are a test of the character of a community, and our character really shone through. We behaved like Alaskans.
We have some repairs left to do, and I’m sure spring will bring a few new cracks to light, but we have solid infrastructure and plans in place to keep us moving forward. I’m proud of how resilient and united our community is. We are #AnchorageStrong.
Best wishes for a happy new year,
Ethan Berkowitz

- All funds received from tax can only be used on homelessness and public safety.
- 50% of voters must approve, if they do, the question will go back to the Anchorage Assembly to decide how to implement and levy the tax .
