Permanent Fund dividend checks will be delivered three months in advance

Due to financial hardships presented by the coronavirus pandemic, Gov. Mike Dunleavy announced Wednesday that Permanent Fund Dividend checks will be distributed to Alaskans on July 1, 2020, three months earlier than usual. The checks from the fund arrive regularly in October, but due to the special circumstances because of the pandemic the decision to issue them early was made. “It is important that Alaskans have cash available”, he said at the end of his briefing. State legislators set this year's dividend to $1,000 in March and is expected to reach about 60,000 state residents. It was also mentioned that the dividend may not reach some Alaskans until the end of July or even in August if they do not have direct deposit into their bank account. |
