RECALL DUNLEAVY campaign

JOIN IN, WE NEED YOUR SIGNATURE!

Picture
On August 1st, Alaskans kicked off a historic effort. Thousands of us attended events across the state, eager to sign the application petition to recall our current Governor, Michael J. Dunleavy. This staggering outpouring of Alaskans displayed the widespread opposition towards the Governor’s cruel and irresponsible policies, he unwittingly united Alaska against him.

The Recall Dunleavy campaign has since received support from hundreds of Alaskans from all communities and all walks of life; small business owners, corporate leaders, Native organizations, social service providers, labor groups, community organizers, and countless other frustrated citizens.

Since January, Alaskans from around the state have called, emailed, rallied, and written letters defending our schools, seniors, ferries, and university system. We know that Alaska needs these programs and institutions to be a 21st century economic power. We need to build a bright future for our kids, grandkids and great grandkids. We all know that Alaska has always been characterized by a strong sense of community, and that its residents will stick together through tough times to support each other. That spirit is alive and well today, but for a tragic purpose; to protect Alaska from its own dangerous Governor. Dunleavy poses a major a threat to Alaska, and we cannot stand by and wait three years to un-elect him. Lives are at stake.

We have submitted an application which includes 49,006 signatures of support establishing legal grounds for recalling Governor Dunleavy. We want everyone to understand this process and what happens next.
Here are some important facts to understand:

1.- The grounds for recalling the Governor include Neglect of Duties, Incompetence, and/or Lack of Fitness. Our effort has provided examples of the Governor’s wrongly actions in each of these categories.
2.- Only one out of the twelve charges is required to be ‘grounds’ to proceed.
3.- We fully expect a dispute by the administration and this issue will be brought to court.
4.- Once we are authorized to proceed to the petition phase, we start gathering new petition signatures from Alaskans. Every Alaskan who is registered to vote will have the opportunity to sign the petition. We ask you to come forth and sign the petition.

You can look forward to hearing about our legal status and the plans for collecting the next set of signatures in coming days.
