The United Way Healthcare Navigators Program is making a difference by bridging the information gap and providing accessible healthcare resources. A new opportunity is presented for people to learn about affordable and high-quality health insurance through the United Way Healthcare Navigators program. This service conducts FREE walk-in sessions at the Loussac Library, providing valuable guidance to the community.

José Fernández, a beneficiary of the navigators’ program, shares his experience: “I started with United Way when we had the insurance requirement for taxes, Obamacare. So, when this requirement was canceled, the person told me to stick with this insurance in case of an emergency, and that’s what I did.” His story highlights how the program has provided guidance to navigate the healthcare system.

Fernández emphasizes the effectiveness of the program by stating: “I had hernia surgery; I get a colonoscopy every 5 years. The insurance my navigator told me about is what helped. It covers a lot and is a more affordable policy.” His testimony underscores the importance of having specialized guidance to find the right coverage that suits individual needs.

In addition to the walk-in sessions at the Library, United Way Healthcare Navigators are available to help by phone and online, no matter where you live in the state. Individual in-person appointments can also be scheduled in Anchorage, Fairbanks, Mat-Su and the Kenai Peninsula.

Walk-in sessions are held every Tuesday and Thursday until January 16 at the Loussac Library, located at 3600 Denali Street, Anchorage, from 2 to 5 PM. This flexible schedule allows the community to access crucial information about health insurance without prior appointments.

José Fernández advises others: “I encourage you to go to the United Way. They will help you with financial assistance, Medicaid, and getting health insurance. For anything related to this topic, they are there to help. They are very good people.” This message reflects the program’s dedication to providing comprehensive support to those seeking guidance on health matters.

If you are seeking help, you can contact Healthcare navigators by calling 2-1-1 or 1-800-478-2221, or by texting GETCOVEREDAK to 898-211 for free assistance. Additionally, interpreter services are available to ensure information is accessible to everyone. Whether by phone, on-line, or with these walk-in sessions, the United Way Healthcare Navigators Program continues to be a valuable resource for the community.
